Overview about the young and still developing Free Software scene in South and Latin America (mostly Brazil), ways to achieve independence of existing structures, and some specific projects. While in Germany people still talk about the ongoing partial migration in Munich, which is mostly in the hands of only few companies, other places have advanced some more already: where interested citizens are part of IT migrations in both companies and organizations. Not only is this a cultural difference, but also gives all hackers the possibility to block decisions heading the wrong way, and to integrate their own perspective.
